WOMEN IN FASHION
Women in Fashion
Women have equally been involved in the fashion trade throughout the history of fashion. From famous designer Milton to current models, that are setting trends in fashion today, women have been involved in fashion in the best way possible.
Perhaps one of the most prominent key roles of women in shaping fashion is through the lens of designers. Modern female designers like Coco Chanel, Diane von Furstenberg, Stella McCartney and many others have also set a great example through their creativity and different outlook on new trends. These women have set the pace for many other successful women in the fashion design field in a profession rumoured to be dominated majorly by men.
Apart from designers, women have also taken roles of models, in this line of fashion as well. Such supermodels as Twiggy, Naomi Campbell, and Gisele Bündchen not only presented the latest collections but also fought for non-conventional beauty and body standards. Such women have especially encouraged the community, women, to embrace whatever shape they are and get into the industry, because everyone is unique.
Though the profession has opened up to women over the years as noted in the foregoing discussions, there is still a lot of struggle that women undergo in the fashion industry. Sexism, oppression, and marginalisation are merely some of the realities that women in fashion have to live with daily. Issues such as disparities in wages, systematic discrimination, and lack of promotions all come as a challenge to women in the industry, restraining them from being the best they can be.
To tackle these challenges it is essential to further promote and encourage women in fashion. If we fight for better rights, and equity, and stand up for generated diversification, we are to give the young and passionate designers, models and fashion professionals equal opportunities for a fair chance in the fashion world that is so desperately awaiting for a change. Only through solidarity and collective action will it be possible to break the structures that still oppress women and that shape a still homogeneous and non-diverse fashion world.
Finally, one must stress the active participation of women in the formation of the fashion industry and their leadership in the present and further developments. Women from designers to models are prominent within the fashion society and have motivated a multitude of people to start dressing seriously, creatively, expressively, and feeling confident in themselves. In this way, by understanding what women are working towards in the fashion business, as well as ensuring equality in business, we can build a fashion future that will be fair, equal, and just.
